Is welding required for the BB/fork?

Hi all --

Just saw a YT video about this recumbent. By looking at the drawings, it appears that the BB tube is welded to the frame, but a welding apparatus does not appear to be listed among the tools required. May I ask someone to clarify this? Can I purchase the fork from the team if I do not weld?

Hi, happy to see foreign interest in the project. It is not required to solder as there are some possibilities to buy the fork, but it might not br easy to spot on the forum as the rest is in french. I let @nov correct and confirm following information :

-one team member might still have some fork to sell ( @JoVPH )

-or we have an agreement with a French group of decentralised manufacturer (MAD) but we haven't experimented with out of country delivery yet ( https://www.lamad.fr/produit/fourche-moskitos/ )

Please note that the fork comes in two sizes, depending on your leg length. We might have to translate part of the posts to make it easier for non French speaking people.

Thank you both! Sorry for posting here -- I could have posted an AI-generated text in the French forum, but that just felt wrong.

I am actually across the river in a country just east of France :), so I can surely pick up the fork when I commit to the build and need one. It's also good to confirm that welding is indeed needed. I guess one could also silver-solder (hard solder/braze) which does not require a welding apparatus. But for the first prototype I would prefer to get the fork from someone who knows what they are doing (not me).

Unfortunately the constraints on the bottom bracket are quite important which leaded to this metal solution.

runcyclexcski yes brazing works. It nevertheless requires some more tools to position correctly the tubes. So that for the one-shot making of this trike, it may be a bit expensive. Furthermore the skills required to do this properly demand more time…
